Cottage sleeping bags
A cottage sleeping bag is a very thin sleeping bag without filling, which is used as a hygienic underlay for overnight stays in e.g. mountain huts or youth hostels. The cottage sleeping bag protects against direct contact with soiled mattresses, duvets, pillows and covers and can be carried compactly in a backpack.
In mountain huts, a cottage sleeping bag is usually obligatory, as duvets and duvet and pillow covers are either missing or not washed daily.
However, they also serve as an ideal addition to your sleeping bag. If temperatures drop unexpectedly, you can still sleep comfortably and stay warm in your summer sleeping bag.
