The exterior frame is made of dimensionally stable, weather-proof ASA plastic. Thus secure bonding and sealing during installation is possible. The operating knob is located on the side, keeping the opening clear across the entire surface. When closed, the Thule roof hood provides a continuous forced ventilation of 100 cm². Both, the housing as well as the vent, have been newly composed, special attention was paid to low energy consumption (0.15 – 2.5 A) and silent operation even at high velocities. Due to the aerodynamical form no additional spoiler is needed. Due to the embedded hinge with continuous rail and the long protruding exterior capsule, rainwater can drain optimally. Furthermore the mosquito blind (standard for all models without vent) as well as the blackout blind (standard for all models) have been newly designed. The blackout blind can be opened in 3 positions. The ventilation version provides 6 levels of aeration and deaeration, a power save function as well as a comfort mode. Circulation of air amounts to max. 20 m³ per minute. The ventilation kit can be retrofitted to all existing Thule roof hoods. Due to the perfect screw-clamping-system, the roof hood can be installed without additional drilling holes into the bodyshell, this provides the best protection against water ingress.

Installation dimensions 40 x 40 cm, interior frame 45.8 x 46.2 cm, exterior dimensions 45.9 x 47.2 cm. The closed roof hood is 7.8 cm in height. Thule roof hoods are suitable for roof thickness of 25 – 60 mm (from 40 mm roof thickness, the kit, item no. 89 342 is required). Materials: exterior frame made of ASA, interior frame made of polystyrene, blind frame made of ABS, hood made of polypropylene.
