VOTRONIC offers a solution for applications in which batteries must also reliably supply energy in standby mode in vehicles such as motorhomes, boats or emergency vehicles – the standby charger. This intelligent device ensures automatic recharging and charge retention of starter or auxiliary batteries, ideal for systems in which the main charger only has one charging output.
Functions and advantages
- Automatic charge retention: As soon as the main charger (mains charger, solar charge controller or generator) is active and the RV battery is charging, the standby charger ensures that the second battery (starter or auxiliary battery) is also automatically charged.
- Simple retrofitting: The device can be easily installed by connecting it between the RV and starter battery or RV and auxiliary battery without having to make any changes to the existing wiring.
- Protection against overcharging: The charging voltage for the second battery is reduced by at least 0.6 V and the charging current is limited to 3 A to prevent overcharging.
- Detection by increased voltage level: The automatic charge retention is visible by an increased voltage level of the second battery, which allows easy monitoring of the charging process.
