In travel vehicles, the RV battery is primarily charged when the vehicle is stationary (charger, solar panel, fuel cell, etc.). If the vehicle is not used for a longer period of time, the starter battery will continue to be discharged because the battery is disconnected. However, many vehicles also discharge the starter battery during the season, as some consumers (radio, multimedia, parking lights, alarm system, etc.) are always connected to it. Standby chargers ensure that the starter battery is also charged – depending on the state of charge of the RV battery. For pure battery maintenance, the 0 A – 2 A variant is usually sufficient. However, we generally recommend the 0 A – 5 A Pro variant, as modern LiFePO4 (lithium) batteries can then also be connected as an RV battery.
