Rear Tents
Once you’ve set it up, you can lean back and relax!
You can attach a tailgate tent to the back of your vehicle in a few simple steps. Usually, you just need to tension it over the open tailgate. Our models are fastened with a piping rail or simply with guy ropes. Another advantage is that the open back of your motorhome ensures that a cooling breeze always blows through your bedroom, even on a hot summer holiday.
Freestanding or not freestanding – that is the question
Non-freestanding rear tents, like this model, have the advantage already mentioned above. Unpack them, tension them – and you’re done. Naturally, these tents are then firmly attached to your car. If you don’t want to leave the campsite, that’s just about perfect. If your rear tent is freestanding, however, you can easily go on a trip or take the car to a nearby beach while leaving the tent at the campsite. These models have poles, but are still very quick and easy to set up. You’re flexible and still have a super practical extra room for your equipment, your kitchen accessories or your camping shower.
What you should take into consideration when buying a rear tent
First of all, the tent of your choice must, of course, fit your vehicle and your needs:
- Do you need a rear tent for your car? Or a rear tent for your van?
- How far can the double doors or the tailgate be opened when the rear tent is attached?
- How many people are you travelling with?
- Do you only want to use the tent for storage or do you also want to live in it?
Dome tents are wind-resistant, while the elongated tunnel tents offer a lot of storage space. Only steep wall tents are more spacious. Theoretically, you can even dance in it. Convenient, isn’t it? Another important point is ventilation. Almost all our models are equipped with mesh windows. They let in fresh air, but keep out annoying insects.
