If you don’t want to leave the campsite, that’s just about perfect. If your rear tent is freestanding, however, you can easily go on a trip or take the car to a nearby beach while leaving the tent at the campsite. These models have poles, but are still very quick and easy to set up. You’re flexible and still have a super practical extra room for your equipment, your kitchen accessories or your camping shower.

What you should take into consideration when buying a rear tent

First of all, the tent of your choice must, of course, fit your vehicle and your needs:

• Do you need a rear tent for your car? Or a rear tent for your van?
• How far can the double doors or the tailgate be opened when the rear tent is attached?
• How many people are you travelling with?
• Do you only want to use the tent for storage or do you also want to live in it?

Dome tents are wind-resistant, while the elongated tunnel tents offer a lot of storage space. Only steep wall tents are more spacious. Theoretically, you can even dance in it. Convenient, isn’t it?
